question about after D&C for miscarriage

On May 7, I started to miscarry (during my seventh week of pregnancy). My doctor prescribed misoprostol to help the process complete naturally (i.e., without doing a d&c). On May 24, the miscarriage still was not complete and I was in a great deal of pain. I was checked into the hospital and a D&C was performed the next day. I had some spotting and pain for the first few days, but then it cleared up mostly. Except for still having some constipation and diarrhea problems that I experienced during my pregnancy as well. Now it is June 5, a few days ago, I noticed that I was spotting again and having some period like cramping. Is this normal? Is it possible that am starting to menstrate? Also, when can my husband and I try to conceive again? My doctor here wants us to wait 3 months before starting in vitro. Do you think it is safe for us to try naturally in the mean time?
