vaginal cramps after Sex

we have been trying for pregnancy for almost 1 year 6 months after a D&C. my last period started 3 weeks ago. for the past few days i have been feeling nausea and fatige but no sore breasts. today after sex i had viginal cramps immediately afterwards. not too painful. I live in Pakistan, the doctors here tell their patients to abstain from sex during pregnancy. if i am pregnant could it be harmful to have sex? the doctors here say that having sex during pregnancy can cause miscarriage because the semen can cause an infection. that is the reason they gave me for my first miscarriage.
