UTI and pregnant

Last Friday night I began to feel like I might have a UTI coming on. I am 15 weeks pregnant (1st pregnancy) and just been to my 15 week ob visit the day before (urine was fine then). I've had one other UTI 2 years ago and I had the similar symptoms. I called my dr and had him paged on Saturday because I was afraid to wait until Monday that I might harm the baby. I had no burning upon urinatination, but I did have pelvic pain and feeling that I have to urinate every 30 minutes, but I urinate very little.

My dr. returned my call and said that he was prescribing me Macrobid 100 mg, twice a day with food. I started taking the Macrobid on Saturday. It is now Monday and I feeling some improvement, but I am still feeling like I need to urinate every hour and I have some urinary discomfort. I am drinking lots of extra fluids and my urine is almost clear.

I'v been on the med over 48 hours now. How long should I take the meds before I call the dr. back again about this discomfort? Have I given the meds a fair chance yet? I am so scared because I have read about UTI's causing miscarriages. How do I know if I am in trouble?
