Can anyone tell me how long, as of today, do washed sperm survive in the uterus and tubes? From: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 2 Jun 2002 07:02:05 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. I am going to begin my first Clomid/IUI cycle in a few days to help nature along a bit. My OB says i can do the IUI once or twice during each cycle, that it is up to me. Its weird, because she told me that she doesnt even need to do an U/S on me to do the insemination. She will have me take clomid 100mg days 5-9 and then HCG shot on the 12th day and insemination the following day. Ive been on clomid before with no side effects and conceived, but miscarried. My 2 questions are: Does this sound like a normal protocol for IUI? and How long do the washed sperm survive in the uterus and tubes. I heard back in the 80's sperm only lasted 10-12 hours, because they dont have the CM to survive in, is that still the case in this day and age? Oh there was one last thing, just how long does it take to wash the sperm? Thanks so much! kindest regards, ann
