Re: Past infection of Fifths Disease, currently pregnantFrom: Jessica (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 1 Jun 2002 19:23:44 -0500 (CDT)
Christy- I went through this in my last pregnancy- a close friend contracted Fifth's when I was about 28 weeks along. All your results mean is that you are immune to the virus. You may have had it at 3 years old, or two years ago, but as long as your blood test shows no recent infection, you can rest assured that your immunity was acquired long ago, and poses no risk at all to your baby. It would be more concenrening if your test indicated a recent infection, but if the titers didn't show it, then you shouldn't worry about it any further. There is absolutely no need for further testing. There are two viral counts docs look for- one shows past exposure/immunity, and the other shows recent infection. With a past immunity, serologically proven, you're all set. Hope that helps. Jessica
