Hello, I am pregnant for the first time at 35. My initial hcg level at 29 days past ovulation was 149,000. I went to the emergency room 5 days later with pelvic and low back pain and the level came back over 200,000, but U/S showed intrauterine pregnancy with good fetal heart rate. No one told me these readings were high until I saw my OB 17 days later, but he just saw the second lab test. Tested again that day,came back at 142,000. The Nurse Practioner said this was strange that this level would be below the initial test, but everything on the U/S she administered looked normal with a single pregnancy. Five days later, retook test and the results are 72,000. Unfortunately, all the providers were not in the office this Friday when my test results came back(to primary care Dr.)Please advise as to what might cause this, as I have taken a lot of medication in the past and am concerned as to the health of this baby. Thank you.
