Reasons for defects if chromosomally normal?From: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 31 May 2002 15:48:12 -0500 (CDT)
Several women from the support group I went had babies with defects like heart defect or lung defect and their babies couldn't survive life right after birth. What I want to know is whether this is caused by genetic reasons or sth else. Those women all have other healthy living children. If it's because one or both of the parents have some kind of genetic disorder which caused the defects of the baby who died, how come their other children do not have such or any other defects. I myself suffered two m/c and now I'm 16 weeks p/g. Dr. said this baby does not have chromosome problem after two perfect NT screening. But after knowing the stories of those women I worry about it too. Even if I'm now pretty sure that this baby is chromosomally normal I still worry about whether the baby's lung or heart or kidney is forming normally? >From your experience do you think this baby is all normal? My husband and I are both healthy and both have normal karyotype. Thanks so much for your help!!
