Re: Induction at 37 weeks due to small baby - confused!From: Monique (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 May 2002 10:34:20 -0500 (CDT)
Thanks, Christy. I just had a LOOOOOONG phone call with my doctor and am feeling a bit more comfortable about the reasons for induction, however, I'd still like a doctor's opinion. Here are a few more facts: U/S done by perinatologist estimates weight at 4lb 15oz (8.5 percentile) Placental resistance by doppler is 2.5 (okay but not ideal) Fluid at 8.8 (under 6 is concern, 6-8 borderline, over 8 okay) In considering all of these factors together, both my doctor and the perinatologist recommend inducing next week (at 37 weeks) in case baby is iUGR it should grow better outside than inside. Still looking for doctor's opinion on situation and what is standard of practice in such situations?
-- Thanks, Monique
