Early Miscarriages - possible reasons?

Hi there,

I have had 2 miscarriages in the past 8 months, one at 5wks and one at 6wks. It looks like I'm pregnant again and I don't want to have this happen again if it can be prevented. I've heard a bit about Heparin/Aspirin therapy, and I went out and got some baby aspirin and am taking one a day, hoping that this may be helpful. My ob-gyn told me that they won't look for possible causes of miscarriage unless it's happened 3 times, but I'm not interested in having another miscarriage just to meet quota, thanks.... Is there something I can do on my own to prevent this? Are blood clots in the placenta common in early miscarriages, and should I be taking this aspirin? I'm determined to do something, but I don't want to cause problems! Please help me understand a bit more about the causes of very early miscarriage (besides chromosomal abnormalities).

Much thanks, Laura
