37 weeks is a full term baby so I don't think an amnio would be called for

Babies can actually start to lose weight inutero due to a hostile uterine environment..ie placenta not functioning properly and such...this can get worse over time and nobody wants that since right now your baby is healthy according to U/S and non stress tests.
