No alternatives except refusing to take it...which would be silly in my opinion. It is used to prevent a Rh negative mother developing antibodies to a RH positive baby. It typically won't effect a first pregnancy, but should a woman refuse Rhogam during a first pregnancy and the baby is Rh+ she could become sensitized to the RH factor and it could make for a VERY sick baby next time around (provided that baby is RH+).
