The test is a Glucose: Insulin ratio. One needs to draw a simultaneous glucose and insulin level. If the G/I is less than 4, this is considered to be insulin resistance. IOW, you need more insulin to keep your glucose normal. This is usually, but not always associated with obesity. It is also considered to be a pre-diabetic state.
