I am certain that you can not contract toxoplasma via inhalation. The sporulated oocysts won't do anything in the lung. It has to go into the gastrointestinal tract. I worked for three months in an intensive care unit, taking care of cats which were documented to be shedding toxoplasma oocysts. I did not wear a mask while handling these cats or their litterpans. I *did* wash my hands before (b/c the cats were immunosuppressed) and after (for my safety) handling the cats or their pans. I did not seroconvert and am still toxoplasma negative.

As to whether or not someone who is seropositive for toxoplasma can get a new infection and put her fetus at risk, I am waiting for Dr. C to answer my request for a pointer to the relevant research. That directly contradicts the teachings of my public health prof in vet school and my personal OB, and as I said I'd very much like to know more so I can properly advise my own pregnant clients.
