strep B and Ecoli - urgent!!!!

I am 25weeks and was tested positive for Strep B and ecoli bacteria in the vaginal swab. My doctor has prescribed Amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day. However, as I read through the archives here, it seems that strep B should not be treated before labor because it can come back.

My questions are:

(1) Is their any point in taking the antibiotic right now? Should I go back to my doc to discuss it further? (2) Can it have any side effects - I will be in my 3rd trimester soon. (3) Can this antibiotic treat UTI as well?

I am really concerned because I have several other complications - taking turbuteline for PTL and baby asprin.

Thansk for your help.
