I've been told that preg will increase my b/p (by my gp, ob and a perinatologist) and can possibly cause pre eclampsia etc, espec in my case.(though I wonder how true) I am dealing w/ an autoimmune disease and was on Norvasc for Raynauds. I've been off for several months and my b/p is currently fluctuating anywhere from 108/70 to occasionally as high as 138/88.Mostly it stays in the 120/80 to 124/84 range. I get it checked weekly. If I were to decide to chance another pregnancy, I was told it would be better to be on anti hypertensives as a precaution. If pregnancy lowers b/p wouldn't my b/p be ok with out them? what causes b/p elevate in so many preg women thus causing pre eclampsia if pregnancy lowers b/p? If I never had high b/p in either of my prior pregnancies, are my chances better at not having a problem with it now? Interesting to hear about b/p being taken correctly in the right arm while sitting. My gp seems to take it in whatever arm he's closest to. Could this be why the readings are so erratic??? Thank you in advance if you can answer.
