NO! NO! NO! Pregnancy causes BP to be lower. Progesterone relaxes the smooth muscle surrounding the arterioless and this allow them to dilate and the pressure becomes lower. Aalso some physicians and nurses will incorrectly take the BP in the top arm with the patient laying down on their side. This gives a FALSE low reading. The appropriate way to take BP is in the right arm in the sitting position.
