I'll answer it for him. Robitussin works because it thins all your body's mucus (relieving the symptoms of a cold). So if you have thick cervical mucus instead of stuff like egg-white around ovulation then the suggestion is that you take plain Robitussin to thin that mucus out as well. I've heard differing stories on when to take it but probably at the start of your fertile phase (when you start seeing cervical mucus / fluid) until the day after the temp rise would be fine. Good luck! By the way, I'm a huge fan of fertility monitoring not just in that it can help in conception, but because it gives women an education about their own bodies and fertility and removes some of the unhelpful mystery around the menstrual cycle!
