Dawn, I would get a new doctor. This guy sounds both insensitive and not terribly well-informed. It's true the obesity can affect fertility, but it's hard to divine whether you are obese from just height/weight bc very fit (muscular) women can be quite heavy. Either way, a five lb weight gain is not going to affect fertility. Further, being too thin is a far more common contributor to infertility than being a few lbs overweight. It sounds like this doc is giving you the run-around. Ditch him if you can, and since you've been trying for almost a year, you may want to go straight to a reproductive Endo. Good luck. I know how hard this can be. Daphne
