My AFP results came back with a 1/174 ratio for Down's. I had an amnio last Wedneday (I had a regular ultrasound, not level II and everything looked good) and am waiting very impatiently for the results. My Doctor told me I have an 80% chance or better that I will have a healthy baby. That comment made me very nervous. Shouldn't it be a 99.4% chance that everything will be fine. He did not give me any specific #'s from the AFP other than 1/174. Also, I asked about finding out sooner through a procedure called FISH. He dismissed that pretty quickly. I was also suprised that I was not offered any genetic counseling and never even had the chance to sit down with him one on one. I know it doesn't sound like it right now, but I really do like my Doctor. What the odds everything is okay? Any advice?
