HELP! Have you ever heard of anything like this that ended positively? From: Janna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 May 2002 21:36:39 -0500 (CDT)
Quick background-LMP 3/18/02 (cycles 33-35 days long)...positive HPT @ 4/17/02. Beta hcg&00. Nothing seen on vaginal u/s on 4/22 initially. Each week thereafter, a "sac" area grew slightly, but nothing was seen in sac. Had a repeat hcg on May 10, and hcg00. Returned today (5/20) for the "final" u/s to determine that this was indeed another failing pregnancy. HOWEVER...u/s showed definite growth from last u/s (5/10) and showed fetal pole and yolk sac. My doc is totally mystified, as am I. I return in 2 weeks...so, I guess my questions are: 1-Is there ANY possibility that this can progress normally? have you ever heard of such a thing? 2-Everything I've read says hcg greater than 5000=heartbeat, and we don't see one, so is this doomed? 3-Why would the sac continue to develop seemingly normally along..? I am so emotionally confused. This will be my 4th m/c in 3 years if this one doesn't make it. Thanks for your advice. This board is a lifesaver.
