how common is still birth?From: kerry (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 May 2002 16:42:30 -0500 (CDT)
Hello Dr, I am 26 years old and almost 38 weeks pregnant with a son. I am worried that something is going to go wrong and that I am going to lose my baby. I do NOT have gestational diabtetes, have normal BP, no protein in urine, do not smoke and have gained 30 ish lbs this pregnancy, was normal weight prior. Triple test low risk. have been monitored via non stress tests a couple of times since 30 weeks...firstly for preterm labor that was stopped (had steroids also) and at 36 weeks due to contractions again..but which also stopped... Both occasions, accelerations of baby's herat rate and good variabilty seen and NO distress/decelerations observed during documented contractions... Baby is VERY active for majority of day/night.. With the info that I have given you, do I sound at risk of a still birth? also, my husbands sister had a still birth with a term low weight baby 7 years ago..could it be genetic? I have voiced my concerns to my care providers but they do not wish to talk through my fears with me. thanks for any info and reassurance, I understand that any info is just for reference..
