35 1/2 weeks & taking brethineFrom: Beth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 17 May 2002 00:28:04 -0500 (CDT)
I just left the hospital for the second time in 3 weeks. The first time my cervix was not dilating at all but they gave me a brethine pill to stop regular contractions. Today, I left the hospital after having an IV for fluids, a brethine shot and a brethine pill. Upon arrival contractions were 3 to 5 minutes apart and moderate in strength. Dr. checked and said I was dilated to 1 and 10% effaced. He ordered the IV, bloodwork, and Urinalysis as well as a brethine shot. After 45 minutes the contractions were slowed to 13 to 15 minutes apart and mild. So they gave me a brethine pill. 2 hours later and no contractions they sent me home with a prescription for brethine every 6 hours. I hate the way this pill makes me feel and have read some bad things about it's use in stopping labor. If I don't take the pill I have contractions. Is 35 1/2 weeks really to early? (This is my 3rd child.)
