Sex at 35 weeksFrom: Anon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 14 May 2002 11:47:56 -0500 (CDT)
I am 35 weeks and my husb and I have a pretty active sex life still. At last checkup at 32 weeks, I was 80% effaced and 1 cm dilated, -2 station. I have not had a cervical check to see if anything else has happened. I had terbutaline to stop premature labor at 32 weeks and put on pelvic rest for 1 week. Have painful contractions for hours a few times a week. Doc will not stop labor at this point. During lovemaking, my husband can only use about 1/3 of his..."member"...because the rest of it doesn't fit. He can only go in about 3 inches. HE can't feel that he's as far in as he can go, but I can. I can't feel any pressure on my cervix itself, but I feel like my whole uterus gets pushed up. Normally, I can feel cervical pressure/sensation during lovemaking. Now, it just feels like he just "stops" there and my stomach pushes upward. I won't have another checkup until next week. This may sound stupid, but could it be that he's bouncing off of the baby because I'm more dilated? I have been so curious that I wouldn't mind him checking it himself, but of course, I'm too scared to do that! That's not safe, is it? Also, last question, is it normal to only be able to go in that far? Thank you in advance.
