Just a few tips: I had to big labs when I bought my son home last May, first I had my husband bring home the blanket that they clean the baby off with after he is born. They need to get use to the new sense that is going to be in his presence. Then when we bought the baby home, we would sit on the floor witht he baby and have the dogs smell him and explore this new little creature. As my son got bigger these dogs loved him, they kissed him and laid next to the bassinet or crib when he was sleeping.

I am not saying all dogs react the same, I don't know what kind of dog you have. But ours where very attached to us, but they loved the baby so much.
