36 1/2 weeks LMP worried about reaction of pet to baby;'s birthFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 14 May 2002 07:18:29 -0500 (CDT)
Hello Ladies, dr's and any vetenarian kind enough to reply, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but feel that there may be lots of you out there with experience with dealing with this, personally/professionally. I am almost 37 weeks pregnant, and am now on leave awaiting the birth of our baby. We have a pet dog, who has become very clingy to me since I finished work, following me around etc and sort of guarding me. He has always been very affectionate, but I feel that he is getting used to having me to himself. I am now worried that he will feel left out when the baby arrives. I plan to fuss our dog when we get home etc, and get guests to do the same before acknowledging the baby, but wondered if there is anything else that I can do to avoid pushing our much loved pet out, or making him feel that way. I suppose that i am also worried that although he is a passive dog, he may become aggressive if he feels left out. Thanks for any advice you can offer.. :O)
