Hi Maly,

My doc found ovarian cyst at 22 weeks pregnancy, and decided to check up on it in 4 weeks because they usually shrink. When he checked, it had grown by 2.5 cm, and was too late in pg to safely remove. So now (39 wks) I still have grapefruit sized cyst (it is pretty painful) treated with painkillers (which I try to avoid) and dr. still hasn't decided what to do about it. One further check shows continuing growth, altho it has slowed down. I know that they don't like to operate on these after about 16 wks, so you're likely stuck with it until after delivery (depending upon what type of cyst it is and whether it ruptures or twists your ovary.) I think this treatment is standard when cyst is found so late, but I often wonder what the doc would do if it were his/her own wife, daughter, etc. Literature goes both ways, so it's the doc's best judgement we're relying on. Better his than mine, tho! :) Good luck to you and your baby!
