can you take glucophage while breastfeeding?

i have PCOS (rather severe without treatment)...essentially i am a poster child. with the help of glucophage and a lot of work, over a two year span i lose 100+ pounds, began normal cycles, rid myself of much of the excess hair growth, lowered my insulin levels from the high 40s to the low 20s and generally got in much better health. i am now pregnant with my 1st child (after a lifetime of anovulation). what i want to know is when he is born, can i go back on glucophage. i will be nursing (or at least i will be trying very hard to).

i am looking for actual dr opinions or research that can either support my taking it or tell me why i shouldn't...input from mother's who are or have been in this situation would also be wonderful..

love, paula
