I can certainly identify with what you're feeling right now. It's been 13 years since the last of my 3 children was born and I went into pre-term labor at 32 weeks with her. I was 3 cm dialted and the doc could actually touch her head. After 3 days in the hospital, I was released and removed off of the med's that was stopping the labor. It was making my heart pound much too fast and hard. I swear that baby must have been holding onto handle bars. I carried her like that for 5 more weeks, having very hard, but quite sporatic contractions for several hours each day. One night I had such painful contractions that I had to do some serious breathing, but they were still very sporatic, at anywhere from 3 min. to 12 min. apart. Finally decided to get checked to make sure the baby was okay and was 7 cm dialated. She was born 2 hours later. Make sure your doc keeps a close eye on the situation. Drinking tons of clear fluids also helps reduce the contractions, along with the bed rest. Best of luck to you and the little one. God bless.
