? for Drs about confounding HCG levels and US findings...From: Tanya (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Apr 2002 08:50:50 -0500 (CDT)
Good morning...I have had 1 prev ectopic preg; LMP 3/23/02; unsure of ovualtion date as first cycle off BCP. HCG levels as follows: 4/20- 124; 4/22-216; 4/24-553; 4/26 -1874. Referred to ER for LLQ pain 04/26; transvaginal U/S revealed cyst(2cmx2.5cm) on Left ovary and unidentified echogenic body on/near rt ovary. Gynecologist uncomfortable with confounding Hcg info and ultrasound results; did laparoscopic surgery- advised no products of conception outside uterus. However, as U/S found no intrauterine pg, I am confused. When should gestational sac be visible intrauterine? Could retroverted uterus make it more difficult to locate gestational sac? Also,(after the fact) should I be concerned about having been under general anasthetic?
