15 mg. Valium in first trimester

I am finding conflicting information about taking Valium in early pregnancy. I have been prescribed 15 mg. to be taken one hour before a dental procedure. At the time, I will be 5w6d, LMP. I do have a serious phobia and this stuff at least keeps me in the chair, and I do have a big cavity. If I were to take the Valium, would I be running a significant risk of birth defect?
