I am 38 weeks and have been using Afrin for about 2 weeks for severe congestion - spring allergy season, compounded by the pregnancy- induced congestion, has made me utterly miserable. I've tried steam, vaporizers, saline sprays, etc.- all to no avail. I now realize that I'm getting severe rebound congestion whenever I don't use the Afrin. Any suggestions on how to wean myself off? Or is it safe to just keep using it until after the baby is born? (Hopefully that will at least make it bearable). I'm using probably 4 sprays per nostril per day of the 12-hour spray, which is still barely within the recommended dose- though well past the recommended amount of time (3 days).
