follow up post- about repeat afpFrom: angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 18 Apr 2002 12:57:26 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I posted a question about what standard procedure is after a positive afp test. I got a relpy but still have a few questions plese. My doc sent off a repest test and will not do an ultrasound till it comes back positive again. She is adiment that it is not needed at this time. I am not sure what to do about this as I have informed her that I am very uncomfortable with a repeat test. The repeat was taken at 19+4 and the original at 17. Would it be wise to have an ultrasound done without her approval before then? Either way, when the results come back should I trust whatever the second screening says? BTW, It was a tripple screen and only the afp was + so an open neural tube ratio was 1 in 200. Is that a high or low risk ratio? Thank you so much for your time and patience.
