Endometrial cancer+lactation -- is it possible? Drs. if you could respond..From: Linda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 10 Apr 2002 21:33:31 -0500 (CDT)
I had my first pap test since delivery last month (10 months postpartum) which came back with abnormal results. They were abnormal endocervical epithelial cells or AGCUS. Since it was a thinprep pap, they immediately did an HPV test which was negative. I am still actively breastfeeding and have not menstruated yet. I have PCOS and believe I ruptured an ovarian cyst or ovulated (I feel crampy on one side for a couple days) a couple months ago. Two weeks later I spotted slightly for a day or so, but not since. It was roughly two weeks after that that my pap test was done. I am having a colposcopy and ECC tomorrow and believe it is probably endo-cervicitis. I have had cervicitis on the exterior of my cervix twice prior. I am nervous though that I might have endometrial cancer due to to my higher risk levels with PCOS and this unusual pap result picked it up. My OBGYN does not plan to do an endometrial biopsy because there are no endometrial cells present which does make some logical sense. Since I am actively breastfeeding, I should not be building up a hyperplasic endometrial lining -- is this correct? Please help!!
