Extra mucus glands on the cervix??

I am 23+ weeks pregnant and last night when I was using the bathroom, I noticed a large amount of thick mucus on the tissue. There was no blood in it and it was somewhat clear with a yellow tinge to it. I called my doctor because I was concerned that this may be my mucus plug, because I have never had anything like this before. Luckily, he was able to see me this morning and said that everything looks/feels fine and that it was probably caused from extra glands on my cervix that produce mucus. He gave me the name of what this is called and I can't, for the life of me, remember what it is called. He said I will probably notice more cervical mucus than most women. I believe the word he used started with an e, but I could be wrong. Can anyone tell me what this is called??? Thank you!
