Laura, I know exactly how you feel. I would spend an hour at the gym 4+ times a week before I got pregnant. Then I got morning (more like "all day") sickness at around 7-8 weeks and really had to cut down. I did keep trying to go to the gym, when I wasn't exhausted, and --strangely-- the ONLY times I ever felt nausea-free was when i was exercising (I think it has to do with the oxygen intake), but I didn't always have the energy or I was just too sick. I probably ended up managing about once a week. And there were some weeks where I couldn't manage at all. So as you've heard from others: listen to your body. If you're too tired or sick DON'T PUSH YOURSELF. If you think you can swing it, try to get in a few minutes whenever you feel like you can. You'll have plenty of opportunity in your 2nd trimester to get back in shape. You probably won't start feeling 100% until the 16th week, but the nausea does start to subside by the 12th week. If it's any reassurance: I am now in my 20th week and I have gotten back to my 4x a week routine and feel great. ONe word of caution, however: when you get back to it full time in your 2nd trimester, you should read up the allowable exercises in the 2nd trimester. There are several exercises and positions you should not be attempting anymore (e.g. no lie-down sit-ups; they must be done on an incline --feet lower than head). You should also not be lifting as much weight as you are used to. Good luck, and hang in there.
