I have unexplained infertility Patty, A HSG will *not* show Endometriosis. The only way to diagnose Endo is by way of surgery, laparoscopy or laparotomy...there isn't a test that will show it...not an ultrasound, not the HSG, not a blood test, etc....only surgery. The work up for Infertility sometimes includes a laparoscopy to check the pelvis out. Endo does not always cause pain, even in the most severe cases. On the other hand, a very minor case of Endo can cause excrutiating pain. Sounds like your friend's Dr. is doing whatever s/he can to find the problem.
