33 weeks and edgy about water

Hi, I'm new on this site and wish I would have found it a lot sooner. I looked through the site's search engine for questions pertaining to water breaking and contractions. All I am getting is the questions submitted, but not the replies. So I guess I should post it myself. I am now 33 weeks pregnant, and although I have been nervous about delivery since the very beginning of this pregnancy, my anxiety has gotten worse the closer I come to my expected due date. I have talked to family members and so forth about the feeling of labor, what water breaking is like, and how bad the contractions are. I have been told from one source that she slept through her water breaking and didn't know it had broken until the next morning. Another said she was just walking and it gushed out of her making her KNOW what was going on. But what if I happen to be asleep?. I know sounds weary, but I haven't been able to get a decent night's sleep for two weeks just from worrying about this issue. Also I had appendicitis (appendix actually ruptured) about 5 years ago and I have dealt with a lot of abdominal pain since then from the scar tissue and also chronic ovarian cysts. I don't really see how the contractions can be as painful as all I have went through already. Can someone describe this pain to me in a distinct way? I have so many lower abdominal pains as it is, I'm afraid I'll end up giving birth at home alone and not even know what's going on.
