First, I'm terribly sorry about your previous loss and for your current worry. I believe that in most cases, a heartbeat can be detected at 7 weeks LMP (or 5 weeks gestation). *** BUT, at 5w3d, it is much less common. *** There is a very strong possibility that you ovulated later in your cycle, and the baby is truly only 5w LMP. If that is the case, it's not very concerning to not see the heartbeat yet. Did they schedule you for a repeat u/s in another week or two? If you are 5 weeks now, you should see a heartbeat in two weeks (at 7 weeks LMP). I'm hoping that this is the case. I know that you're scared and worried, but hopefully you can get HCG levels and another u/s to reassure you in the next week or so.
