Re: Changing ob/gyn @ 34 weeks? Need VBAC friendly doctor!From: abrook (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 1 Apr 2002 02:03:50 -0600 (CST)
thank you all for your kind advice. i'm starting to believe that fear of lawsuits will do a great disservice to vbac's... regarding dr shanahan's reply, i know that a doctor has no legal obligation to receive a new patient - but even if there was such an obligation, i would hardly consider "forcing" a doctor to see me. as for a moral obligation, i think i disagree with you - but again, i would not even consider going to a doctor who is only receiving me as a result of an obligation on his part. call me crazy, but i thought that a doctor would actually want to receive patients! anyway, my question was not so much as to whether one can force a doctor to receive a patient, but on how to actually find a doctor willing to take her i understand that receiving a patient on her 34th week may be somewhat unorthodox, but i'm sure we'll find a doctor who is willing to work with us. the doctor we were trying to see is actually well known for being vbac friendly, and works in a very well staffed and equipped university hospital (in my mind, the ideal combination for a succesful vbac) thank you again for your replies. best regards
