I also take Effexor. I am 24 weeks pregnant. I've taken it throughout this pregnancy. My doctor and my psychiatrist (I'm bipolar) have reassured me that it will not harm the baby at all. The baby is right on track for his development and they have seen no birth defects. My doctors have said it would be much more dangerous to the baby if I were not to take it. Hope this helps some.
