Re: Quitting Glucophage

glucophage is a class B medication (same class as tylonal if i am correct). there are still conflicting opinions within the medical circles as to whether you should remain on it through pregnancy. many women do. it has been shown to reduce the risk of miscarriage in PCOS patients when taken through the 1st trimester. i was on 1500mg for 2 years before getting pregnant, i stayed on the medication for the first 7 weeks and was taken off of it. although i haven't seen the actual studies, i have heard several PCOS women say their doctor's are keeping them on it to reduce the risk of Gestational diabetes and some kind of platlet problem that may appear in the third trimester. i believe you should do whatever you and your doctor agree on, but i seriously doubt (given what i have read in studies and have heard second hand from women who did stay on it throughout) that no harm will come to your baby.

hope this helps =)

love, paula
