Loss at 18 wks due to ABS - need support.From: Jules (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Mar 2002 09:02:14 -0600 (CST)
I found out yesterday that my baby had not heartbeat. All along my drs told me everything was fine, even though I had spotting. They did several ultrasounds and found nothing. Yesterday there was no heartbeat and after a second US for confirmation, it was pronounced. We were sent to a specialist after hearing our options and he confirmed that the baby had amniotic band syndrome. I was horrified and feel a great sense of loss. I was in the hospital last week for a scan because of heavy bleeding and they saw nothing. I don't understand how drs can be so evasive when it comes to something like this, the specialist said they should have seen it, it was very clear to us. The bad was stretched way out and wrapped around the babys wrist, hand and attached to some part of the lower face. Now I have to wait 3 whole days with this death inside me til I can have the surgery to remove it and I'm very scared, sad and feel somewhat lost. It's hard to talk to anyone cause I cry. Sure they say we can try again and things should be just fine, but it's still hard. The baby had a face...the body was at 16 wks but the head was 18 wks. My dr wasn't even able to give me an appropriate due date. I'm mad at them even though I know it's not their fault. Please keep us in your prayers. thank you.
