I can't think of an appropriate subject for this question but please do read it!From: anonymous@obgyn.netSat, 30 Mar 2002 08:41:19 -0600 (CST)
I have read a lot that with IVF after 2 or 3 embryos are inserted into uterus and if later on only 1 is alive the other 2 would be absorbed by the body and will not affect the live embryo or cause infection or whatever. The same is with vanishing twins. One of the twins who is dead would not affect the other twin. Then why with a conception of singleton when a missed abortion happens the dead embryo is not absorbed by the body and if it does not pass out there would be a risk for infection? What's the difference here? Sorry if this sounds ignorant to you and Thanks for your educated answer!
