WIC now has breastfeeding peer counselors and will give a manual pump or load a hospital grade (lactina in our area) pump for as long as needed. But many, many women breastfeed just fine without a pump and often do better just nursing without one and hand expressing as needed. Have her check out "The Baby Book" by William Sears or his breastfeeding book (the title escapes me right now) for excellent advice and guidance.
