Can >severe anemia affect any of the results??? Thank you! There are some hormones in the body that can react with the pregnancy hormone and cause a positive pregnancy test in the urine. The beta-hCG blood test is testing for a specific unit of the pregnancy hormone. I've actually operated on a patient for an ectopic pregnancy, based on a urine test and a mass, only to have the blood test come back normal/negative. "-1"...never heard of it
