Closed CervixFrom: Andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 26 Mar 2002 17:00:39 -0600 (CST)
Searched the archives but was unable to find any information. We have been trying to conceive for about a year... NO LUCK. I had an HSG done about three months ago. All seemed fine. At that time, the doctor noticed that I had a very small, TINY, cervical opening even around the time, or just a few days prior to ovulation when the procedure was done. Now it seems that my tiny cervical opening could be part of our infertility problem. It just doesn't seem to ever open for the "swimmers" to get through. My doctor now wants to perform a dilation to stretch the cervix and then have us try to conceive naturally. Questions; Anyone heard of such a thing, a cervix that won't open? Could this small/closed cervix be the root of our problem? Is the cervical dilation effective in correcting the problem, albeit temporarily? Would IUI be the next logical step if this is our problem? Thanks for any input! This forum is wonderful.
