Re: Doctors advice pleaseFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 25 Mar 2002 14:57:42 -0600 (CST)
I'm NOT a doc but I know how nerve-wracking it can be to wait for an answer, so I thought I'd just share my experience with you - hope you don't mind... Early in pg, your HCG should double every 24 hours or so - yours has done exactly what it is supposed to. Also, I read on another post here recently that (according to the doc) about half of women experience some first trimester bleeding, and over 75% of those go on to have a normal pregancy. This early, you may even be experiencing implantation bleeding, which is a result of the zygote burrowing into the lining of the uterus. This is my 2nd pg, and with both I had a little bit of reddish bleeding right around the time my period was due. With this one, I also had some brownish spotting at 5 weeks and 7 weeks - I'm now in my 3rd trimester. It is too early for your doc to see much of anything on an ultrasound, so if the bleeding continues you might want to ask for another round of seriel HCG tests to make sure the levels continue to rise. In another 2 weeks or so, you should be able to see the heartbeat on ultrasound, and that would also provide a great deal of reassurance, I'm sure. You might want to go back over the posts from Friday and the weekend, I think one person posted about brownish discharge and another posted about bleeding in 1st trimester. The archives also contain a great deal of information about bleeding in 1st trimester (you'll find a couple posts from me there!) Good luck!
