Birth Control self aborting?From: Adrianne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 22 Mar 2002 12:26:30 -0600 (CST)
Hi I am a 35 yr old woman. I have only had two fullterm pregnancies in my life, resulting in two sons now ages 14 and 9. I have had more work in the last year than I have had dates and my physician recommended I try to remain off the pill as I have a fast heart due to coffee, smoking, lack of exercise. I was off the pill for about 2 months when I had a sexual encounter . I noticed two weeks after this that I had very much strong symptoms towards pregnancy: full breasts, sleeping continously, lack of appetite. I was worried at first that perhaps it was heart related but had never had any of these symptoms before. On retrospect of my one sexual encounter, I decided to begin the pill again temporarily until I had another form more readily available to me. I continued on the pill dismissing that I could be pregnant, denying the possibility to myself even while the symptoms persisted. To make a long story short, I did recieve my period about roughly 3 weeks later. The symptoms ceased. I have tried to find information relating to whether I could have truly been pregnant and lost it due to the birth control but had only recieved the opposite as truth, stating that the birth control cannot create a miscarriage once a pregnancy has taken place. I have been very confused about this as I am unsure whether I caused my own miscarriage and would like to know if the relation between birth control and an existing pregnancy could result in this. I realize that there is nothing I can do to change the above but I would like to put it to rest. Thank you Adrianna
