Re: 41 weeks with extremely high cervixFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 Mar 2002 14:15:59 -0600 (CST)
I'm not a doc, just a mom of one with another on the way. I believe that what your doc is talking about is just the position of your cervix during pg - high and out of the way, as opposed to prelabor or labor, when the baby's head pushes the cervix down into the birth canal during the effacement and dialation process. I would imagine that as your baby "drops" into position your cervix will move appropriately. Your doc would have mentioned the possibility of a c-section if this were in fact a danger. When in doubt, call your doc to double check, but my (admittedly uneducated!) guess is that as your body prepares for labor your cervix will automatically do what it is supposed to. For what it's worth, I've been told that I have the world's longest cervix, and I had no problems with a vaginal delivery! Hope this helps,
-- Amanda
