Re: 'Secretly' charting, any suggestions?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 17 Mar 2002 11:52:34 -0600 (CST)
You really should be charting NOW if you're having uprotected sex for 5 days before your period. At least charting will tell you if you've likely ovulated, while just counting the days is less reliable. What if your ovulation is delayed a week? I know you say you are regular, but that doesn't mean you always will be. Stress, sickness, many things can delay ovulation. Of course, if you don't mind getting pregnant now, then it's no big deal. Charting should give you approximately 9-11 days of safe sex time, because typical luteal phase is 12-14 days, minus 3 days to confirm elevated temps. As far as your husband, I think you should be open with him. Tell him you want to understand your cycle better to have more safe sex days and so that when you do decide to start TTC, you will be familiar with your cycle. If you do decide to hide it from him, I think taking it in the bathroom right after you get up should work okay. Ideally, you take it before getting out of bed, but as long as you are consistent, you should still see a pattern. Good luck to you.
